Yawuru Home Ownership Project

In April 2015, Nyamba Buru Yawuru and the Kimberley Development Commission launched the Yawuru Home Ownership Project (Y.H.O.P.) in a partnership with Keystart to provide shared equity home ownership opportunities for Yawuru people.

Successful applicants were drawn via a ballot system and later that year began their journey to home ownership. The video below shows one of the project success stories (captions and transcript available).

see a lot of young indigenous people

going into homeownership and it’s a

sense of pride it’s pretty daunting it’s

pretty scary but it’s it’s exciting as

well it’s concrete and it’s there and

it’s yours and it’s home
