The Regional Price Index 2015 is produced by the Department of Regional Development to identify the cost of living in the regions. The index comprises a ‘basket’ of 500 goods and services to compare the prices of those items between regional areas and Perth. Items are weighted to reflect the relative importance of the different goods and services and the index is produced every two years.
The following figure summarises the 2015 results. The Index shows that the overall prices in the Kimberley have risen since 2015 by 0.7%, on average the Kimberley as a whole is 15.4% more expensive than Perth.
