Did your organisation miss the deadline for the RED Grants? There are a number of other initiatives to promote socio-economic development in the WA regions, and the good news is that they include the Kimberley region.

One of these initiatives is the Tourism Western Australia’s annual Regional Events Scheme. A total funding pool of $1 million is available, including a separate pool of $150,000 allocated to the Regional Aboriginal Events Scheme (RAES). To be eligible for either scheme, events must be held between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021 with event holders able to make a funding submission for between $5,000 and $40,000. Applications close at 5pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. For more information or to apply, visit Tourism Western Australia web page.

Another initiative is the Playing WA grant program, which provides up to $120,000 for performing arts shows to tour to regional and remote locations. The Regional and Remote Festivals Fund offers up to $80,000 to support the presentation of arts and cultural activities at regional and remote festivals. Funding may support travel, accommodation and salary expenses, or equipment hire and the delivery of community engagement activities. Applications are open now until October 31, 2019 for local artists, arts groups and organisations, regional local government authorities, Aboriginal communities, and Regional Development Commissions. For more information or to apply, visit the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Communities web page.
