Chinatown Revitalisation Project

Chinatown is Broome’s primary business, retail and entertainment area and holds an important place as part of Broome’s identity. Once the heart of the pearling industry, the revitalisation of Chinatown will reinvigorate this unique area as a place for people to socialise, recreate and do business.

The Chinatown Revitalisation project is a partnership project between the Shire of Broome, the Kimberley Development Commission and LandCorp and was made possible through Royalties for Regions funding.

The Master Plan has been prepared to guide the Chinatown Revitalisation Project on public realm improvements that can be implemented to revitalise Chinatown and ensure the precinct remains the ‘heart and soul’ of Broome. The Master Plan will also guide the Shire on public realm improvements to be implemented into the future beyond the Chinatown Revitalisation Project.

The Chinatown Master Plan was adopted by Council at its Ordinary Meeting on 14 December 2017.
