Residential Housing and Land Snapshot

Residential Housing and Land Snapshot 2024 updates

As part of the Commission’s continued advocacy for increased housing provision across the Kimberley, we intend to provide regular up to date snapshots of the ‘state of the sector’.

We’ve expanded on our 2023 report to provide updated data from the second half of FY23/24 and highlight the continued dysfunction of housing markets across the region. These snapshots are provided individually for each Kimberley Shire.

Kimberley Development Commission Sector Profile #2 – Residential Housing and Land Snapshot 2023

The Kimberley region is experiencing an acute crisis of availability and affordability within housing markets.

This crisis is a serious economic concern for the region as housing is fundamental to the functioning of any economy, enabling labour-force participation and underpinning the wellbeing of families and communities.

Housing development also presents a considerable economic opportunity for the region as a source of employment and income for many residents and local businesses.

In alignment with our statutory mandate to “identify investment opportunities in the region” and to “provide information and advice to promote business development”, the Kimberley Development Commission (KDC) has undertaken a body of research to establish a cross-sectional snapshot of the region’s residential housing and land profile.

This report is available to help promoting advocacy on the issue, support grant and funding applications and to empower constructive discussion to solve the crisis.

For more information regarding the report, please contact the Commission on 9148 2100.
